Welcome to Hanoi - Vietnam’s capital. Today, your private tour guide and driver will pick you up at Noi Bai International airport and transfer you to your hotel in the old quarter (city center) for check-in (check-in time at 2:00 PM).
The Old Quarter in Hanoi is an intriguing neighborhood, home to a mix of Vietnamese architecture, green spaces, ancient shops and fresh-as-it-gets street food. The 36 guild streets of the Old Quarter were named for 36 trades or craft that set up in this area, and created high-quality goods to supply the royals in the Thang Long Citadel, just steps away. Today only a few streets sell the same products they once did. Some streets, however, have kept the traditions of the past; and these can be great fun to explore on foot or on a cyclo, and with your camera in hand.
For your first night in Hanoi, we will guide you around the Old Quarter for street food tasting as a unique alternative option for your dinner. On a 3-hour walking tour you’ll explore the culture, history of Hanoi, step into a world full of street food vendors. Unlike big cities all around the world, street food in Hanoi is not just hot dog carts and pretzel stands, we offer an opportunity to try out many different dishes at the local food stands, and family restaurants…
A rotating menu from day to day to represent the variety of delicious options, but tastings might include – but are subject to change: rice noodle soup with beef, rice noodle with chicken, rice noodle with grilled pork, snail, or dry noodle, sticky rice, along with various kinds of donut, steamed pancake or Vietnamese sandwiches. Overnight in Hanoi.
Today includes: Private car, private English speaking tour guide, drinking water, street food tour for dinner, hotel in Hanoi.
Today excludes: Breakfast/lunch, personal expenses, other drinks.
Day 2: Hanoi Jeep tour half-day + city tour - Stay overnight in Hanoi (Meals included: breakfast/lunch)
Hanoi half-day Jeep tour is a fun way to experience the sights, smells and tastes of Hanoi NOT like a trip through the window of a mundane air-con car . And definitely, the best way to see and learn about the real Hanoi, not just the run-off-the-mill tourist sites.
Today, your tour guide & Jeep car will pick you up at your hotel at 8:00am.
On the first part of the tour, we expose you the REAL HANOI with a day in the life experiences, featured with the parts-unknown of the city with slices of life in the maze of backstreets, tiny alleyways, local homes, schools, random markets and black market, experiencing where & how locals live, work and play.
On the second part Jeep tour, we pass by & stop at the MUST-SEE places of our beautiful city such as Ho Chi Minh mausoleum-the Mecca of Vietnamese, The 1000 year-old Buddhist and Taoist temples of Tran Quoc, temple of Literature, the historical train-street, the enchanting French Quarter, The hustling & bustling Old Quarter, the romantic lakes of Hoan Kiem, West lake , Hanoi Opera House & famous Long Bien bridge etc.
Local lunch will be served at the end of the Jeep tour.
In the afternoon, visit Hoa Lo Prison Museum which was originally used by the French colonists in Indochina for political prisoners, and later by North Vietnam for U.S. prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. During this later period, it was known to American POWs as the "Hanoi Hilton”.
Take a walking tour through the " Hanoi Train Village " along the rail tracks - this railway is about 20 km around Hanoi. It goes over many streets and inner urban areas. In some parts of the railway village, the distance between the resident houses and the track is only 3-5m. Therefore, the railway suddenly turns into a public living space, street, gathering, cooking or working place.
Journey back to the center of the city for enjoying a traditional Water Puppet Performance – a unique Vietnamese art form hailing from Southeast Asia’s wet-rice culture. Overnight in Hanoi.
