Day 2 Phnom Penh City tour
This morning we visit the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. The Royal Palace complex was built in 1866 during the reign of King Norodom. Set in beautiful gardens this impressive, colourful palace, highlights the Khmer style of architecture. Near the Royal Palace is the Silver Pagoda, also known as The Emerald Buddha Temple. This Pagoda is adorned with Buddha Statues decorated in diamonds, emeralds, gold and silver. Next we continue to the National Museum, showcasing Cambodian History and the Khmer empire and to Wat Phnom, the birthplace of the capital. On a more sombre note we visit to Toul sleng S21 Genocide museum. This building was originally a school then transformed into a prison during Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge’s cruel, genocidal regime. We move to Choeng Ek Museum, known as The Killing Fields, where millions of people were executed. Although they are two very sombre places, they are important to Cambodia’s recent, turbulent history. The Khmer Rouge government was legitimised by the United Nations and many influential countries and one would hope the mistakes of the past and its impact on the Cambodian people are never forgotten or repeated. We will finish the day by visiting the Russian Market. The “must see” Russian Market is the most “well known”, foreign market in Cambodia. Visitors will be surprised at the variety of goods available such as silk, jewellery and clothes.

Day 3 Phnom Penh Kampot Kep
After Breakfast, we will leave Phnom Penh for Kampot and its Pepper Plantations. KAMPOT pepper was once a world famous commodity, shipped to Europe, coveted by the most venerated chefs, and a must have condiment at the tables of the finest restaurants. Its reputation was second to none. Then the Khmer Rouge happened, and Kampot’s pepper plantations were ripped up during the years of senseless revolution. The plantations were converted to rice paddies, or simply left to rot, bringing an end to the once thriving industry until it was revitalised in the 1990s. We will continue to Phnom Chhnork caves. These PreAngkorian ruins are located about 50 metres deep in a limestone cave, amongst stalagmites and stalactites, which are slowly growing into the ruins. This small, 7th century AD (some sources report 4th/5th century AD) brick structure is associated with the ancient state of Funan. The structure is generally in good condition with some of the carvings still visible. The Lingam (aniconic representation of the Hindu deity, Shiva) is inside the structure. Take a short walk around Kampot to see the picturesque French colonial architecture which is gradually being restored. We will travel on to Kep, 25km far away, and check in to the hotel. If time permits, it is well worth the climb to view the sunset from "Sunset rock" over the Gulf of Thailand.
Overnight in Kep.
Day 4 Kep Back to Phnom Penh
In the morning take a boat from Kep to the white sandy beaches on Koh Tonsai Island (or Rabbit Island). Relax on the peaceful beach or take a swim. A barbecue lunch will be served before returning to the resort hotel to refresh before departing for Phnom Penh (about a 2.5 hour drive). En route we visit Tonle Bati, a small but famous lake. **Ta Prohm temple which was constructed by King Jayavarman VII in the 12th century. You will see flowers and little shrines in every corner.**

Day 5 Phnom Penh Flight to Siem Reap - visit Angkor Wat
Today, we will transfer to Phnom Penh Airport for the short flight to Siem Reap. Upon arrival you will be welcomed by your guide and driver and transferred to the hotel for check in. We will take a tuktuk to start the journey to Angkor Wat – the most fascinating destination in Cambodia. The temple also stands out for its sophisticated and unique Angkor architectural style. The motifs carved on stone will help you understand the depth of the culture and history of the Khmer civilization. You will have until sunset to explore and photograph this magnificent temple. In the evening enjoy a complimentary welcome dinner.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 6 Siem Reap – Ta Prohm – Banteay Srei – Angkor Thom – Preah Khan
We start the day by discovering the well known temple, Ta Prohm, an Angkor style temple constructed between the 12th and 13th century. One can’t help being impressed by its unique scenery. Trees grow out of the ruins and the temple is surrounded by jungle which made it the perfect location for the Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie. Moving on to another stunning temple, Banteay Srei, which is known as the "Jewel of Khmer art" or "Citadel of Women". It features various carved walls and statues. The carved statue of Apsara dancers, is an excellent symbol that honours women’s beauty. It is truly amazing. Next, we pay a visit to Angkor Thom City, the capital of Khmer Empire in the 12th century. At the heart of Angkor Thom lies Bayon Temple which consists of 54 towers and 216 giant carved faces. The talented Khmer artist’s work within the temple is very impressive. We then visit the surrounding complex incorporating Baphou, lepper King Terrace, Elephant Terraces, Royal Place and Preah Khan Temple.
Overnight in Siem Reap.
Day 7 Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake Battambang – Wat Ek Phnom
Today you will have a relaxing schedule. After breakfast, take a boat cruise along Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and also the life source of many Cambodians. Enjoy the tranquillity of the beautiful landscape passing by. Bordered by lush trees, this widespread land allows you to catch a glimpse of the white storks swooping down to catch fish. In the afternoon, on arrival at Battambang, you will visit Wat Ek Phnom temple which was built during the same period as the Bayon Temple. In front of the temple is a newly built temple which is the religious centre for local people. Here we will learn how to make rice paper and grolan.
Overnight in Battambang.
Day 8 Battambang Day Tour
This morning, visit the striking hilltop pagoda of Phnom Sampeau. This massive limestone outcrop is dissected by a number of caves with some containing unexpected reminders of Cambodia’s turbulent history. Walk around the premises with your guide and continue to the village of Ksach Puoy on the banks of the Sangker River, which is home to many well preserved traditional Khmer wooden stilted homes and tropical fruit farms. This is a great opportunity to taste juicy oranges, sweet pineapples, and many other fruits available in the region. Not far from Ksach Puoy is Cambodia’s first vineyard. If wine is what you are after, pop in and learn about producing wine in the tropics and a tasting if you are interested. Continue to the well preserved 11th century Prasat Phnom Banan, located on top of a hill bearing the same name. After climbing the 350 steps you are treated to a peaceful setting with superb views across the surrounding countryside. Small villages are dotted in and around the endless rice paddies, punctuated with the characteristic sugar palm trees – take a bamboo train ride which is the local transportation before returning to your hotel. Overnight in Battambang.
Day 9 Battambang – back to Siem Reap
Today, we will leave Battambang for Siem Reap by car. The journey will take around 4hours, stopping at a local Buddha carving business and the Pouk silk farm. The evening will be free for you to explore the dynamic Pub Street and the night market.
