Here is a battle of pain and blood as 14,000 prisoners were killed. Next we visit the National Museum, with the largest collection of Khmer art in the world, including ethnographic objects, ceramics, sculptures and bronzes. Our final visit is the Royal Palace complex and gardens.  Its fascinating buildings such as Throne Hall, Moonlight Pavilion and Phochani Pavilion are the perfect mix of Cambodian and French architecture.

Day 3 Mekong & Koh Dach Islands – Cheong Ek – Sihanouk Boulevard

Today you will cruise on the Mekong River. You will visit Koh Dach Island to explore its traditional handicrafts of pottery, silk weaving and wood carving. We return to Phnom Penh for lunch. The afternoon will be spent exploring Cheong Ek, known as, “The Killing Fields”, where millions of people were put to death. Although a very sombre place it is significant in Cambodia’s recent, turbulent history. Afterwards we will take an exciting bike tour around Sihanouk Boulevard, Phnom Penh’s most modern area.

Day 4 Phnom Penh – Siem Reap – Floating Village

En route stop at a small market and taste the local food. On arrival in Siem Reap, we board a boat to cruise on Tonle Sap Lake. There is no better way to gain an understanding of the local life, than to visit the floating villages on the lake.

Day 5 Ta Prohm – Angkor Wat – Angkor Thom

Today you have a pre-dawn start to catch a tuk tuk to enjoy the magnificent scenery that Ta Prohm offers at sunrise. It’s the ideal time to take amazing, artistic photographs as the early sunlight passes over the moss covered rocks. We return to the hotel for breakfast. The rest of the day will be spent exploring the UNESCO listed Angkor Archaeological park. First up, you will visit the magnificent Angkor Wat, the temple depicted on the Cambodian flag. This is followed by Angkor Thom, the ancient capital. Stepping through the gates you will enter a holy world.  Temples inside the walls of this city include Bayon Temple with its huge 4face carved statues.
