Vibrating with energy, innovation and traffic – lots of traffic – Ho Chi Minh City, formerly known as Saigon, is the economic heart of Vietnam and the main hub of the southern region. A freewheeling, cosmopolitan metropolis, HCMC's dynamic cityscape draws together old and new Vietnam in the most compact of spaces, representing the city’s past as well as its future.
This morning after having breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide and driver at 8:00 AM and drive to visit the amazing tunnel network of Cu Chi. This incredible system, covering almost 250 km in length, was a shelter to over 16,000 Viet Cong guerrillas during the wars. Initially started in 1948 against the French air and ground sweeps, the network then served communication routes, storage facilities, hospitals and living quarters for Vietnamese fighters throughout the American war. If interested, you can even descend into the tunnels to learn more about the harsh conditions faced by Viet Cong guerrillas who lived here. Return to the city center for lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, set out to tour the former capital of French Indochina. Historic landmarks include the Old Saigon post office, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House. Continuing our visit to the Reunification Palace used to be the headquarters of the Saigon Government during the American war in the 60s. Round off your day by a visit to Ben Thanh Market.

Day 3: Pick up from hotel in HCMC - Mekong Delta Day tour (Ben Tre) - Stay overnight in Ho Chi Minh city (Meals included: Breakfast/lunch) - 4-star hotel (Icon Saigon Hotel or similar)
At 8:30 AM, your guide and driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City and depart for Ben Tre, one of the most authentic and picturesque regions of the Mekong Delta. Along the journey, enjoy views of endless rice fields and rural landscapes, with a short stop for refreshments and comfort.
Upon arrival in Ben Tre, visit a traditional brick factory to learn how local people use the rich clay collected from the riverbed to produce bricks, an important part of daily life in the Mekong Delta.
Board a local boat and cruise along the Mekong River while taking in the peaceful scenery of riverside villages and coconut plantations. Enjoy fresh tropical fruits and refreshing coconut juice as you experience the relaxed pace of life on the water.
Continue your exploration through the countryside by bicycle (or tuk-tuk if preferred), passing through lush coconut groves and quiet village paths. Along the way, visit a local family workshop to see how traditional sleeping mats are handmade using techniques passed down through generations.
Enjoy a delicious Southern Vietnamese lunch at a riverside family home, featuring local specialties. Vegetarian and vegan options are available upon request.
In the afternoon, experience one of the highlights of the Mekong Delta: a peaceful rowing boat ride through narrow coconut-lined canals. Gently paddled by local residents, this serene journey offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and tranquility of the region.
After another scenic boat ride, begin your journey back to Ho Chi Minh City, bringing your memorable Mekong Delta experience to a close.
